ABOUT The Founder
I was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. My extended family grew farm-cultivated ginseng, one of the most important Chinese herbs in the West. I wasn’t interested in Chinese Medicine when I was young, but eventually gravitated back to my roots and have been practicing East Asian medicine for more than 20 years, both in an integrative health setting at a hospital and in solo practice.
With a strong desire to continue learning and growing, I found myself traveling often to study with teachers for both professional and personal development - including courses in acupuncture, qigong, martial arts, and zen, vipassana, and kundalini meditation. I discovered that when I take time away from my busy clinical practice and life obligations, I am able to realign with my purpose, become grounded and present in my life, and show up better for my patients, family, and friends.
In 2019, I launched Dao Collective, a collaborative initiative to bring top teachers from around the world to me so I can share their wisdom with colleagues and friends close to home. These distinguished practitioners, teachers, and lineage transmitters - some of my closest friends and mentors - offer best practices, cutting-edge treatments, and the latest advancements in East Asian medicine and spiritual practices in carefully curated programs in beautiful locations just north of New York City.
I currently maintain an acupuncture practice in Irvington, New York, Old Greenwich, Connecticut, and New York City. To learn more about me, visit dodychang.com
